Overview of 2021 Campaign

Overview of Bible Reading Plan

The Jackson County Ministerial Alliance and the Nehemiah Initiative have launched a campaign to encourage Altus to read the Bible. The campaign is a forty-day reading campaign during the weeks leading up to Easter. The reading plan will cover the four Gospels of the New Testament and will require about ten minutes a day. Individuals, families, churches, book club groups, and Bible study groups are encouraged to participate in the local effort. Based on research by the Barna Group, adults who use the Bible daily only account for 14 percent of the total adult population, followed by 13 percent who use it several times a week, 8 percent who do so once a week, 6 percent about once a month and 8 percent who use it three to four times a year. The good news is; in another survey, 66% of adults surveyed said they would like to know what the Bible has to say. The forty-day reading schedule will take place during what is traditionally known as the season of Lent. During this time many Christians will choose to give up something to grow closer to God. We are encouraging people to pick up something this year, the Bible. A reading schedule and a free link to an online Bible can be found at www.altusreads.org/bible While you are there please register as a participant in the Altus Bible Reading Campaign.
